How Do You Spot A Fake Psychic?

After conducting psychic readings, numerology readings and tarot card readings for over 20 years now, I have gained a definite perspective not only as an advisor but as a client. As a client, I was been able to see exactly how psychics who are not real work their magic. After getting a psychic reading from dozens of so-called psychic advisors, you may find yourself intoxicated by the things that the psychic tells you. If it sounds too good to be true, most likely it is. You have to understand the origins and purpose of psychic networks. Their job is to make lots of money, not to help you. Granted, there are real psychics who are gifted and working on psychic network lines, but I have found that most of the people working as psychic advisors period, are not real at all. I’m sure you have heard by now that many fake psychics use scripts and certain formats in conducting their psychic readings, but for the most part, it’s really simple what they tell you that gets you hooked.

For example, if after getting a psychic reading, you find yourself feeling intoxicated almost, then they have done their job superbly. You will find yourself hurt and disillusioned beyond the ordinary disillusionment experienced from your own life’s complications. You may even find yourself broke or in debt. It’s unconscionable that people could prey on others’ vulnerabilities and pain in this way. But that is exactly what they do. And in the end, there is only more pain. And the inevitable distrust of psychics.

It’s this “fake” paradigm, which has its roots in the first elemental phone psychic networks, that dominates the public’s perception and legitimate scrutiny is reasonable. But real psychics around the globe are out there and you should make it your business to find a foolproof way of determining who is real and who is not until such time as this paradigm is changed to ensure that your advisor is authentic by virtue of their credentials as it is for any professional practitioner.

Now you may frequent sites where the advisor is given feedback after your call. This is a good thing but, it is not foolproof. I have seen fake psychics who will have almost perfectly glowing feedback that goes on and on for pages. Perfect! You may wonder why this occurs. Simple. After you hear exactly what you want to hear or want to believe verified, well, this is where that intoxication comes in, you tend to reflect your glorious feelings with equally glowing feedback! But when things don’t happen the way were told, you never come back. So, others following in your footsteps will call this advisor because “they too want to believe.”

Another thing to watch out for is fake feedback. This is also a tactic used by fakes to fool you. On sites where feedback is left, an authentic psychic advisor has to have a very high level of integrity in order to be comfortable telling the truth despite the fact of what the client wants to hear. If the psychic does not tell them what they want to hear in a reading, the client may leave very bad comments and a bad rating. It’s the price you pay for being real. In my experience when I tell a client something they didn’t want to hear, for the most part, they don’t leave any comments. The fact is, they will most likely go find another psychic who will reflect their own feelings about the situation. A reading can be truthful and uplifting without bringing the client down but you have to ready to hear the truth.

So how do you know who is real and who is not based on feedback! That is not to say that an authentic psychic is not going to have great feedback. They do, but sometimes they will be the ones to receive bad ratings and feedback mixed in with the good. Life is all about taking the good with the bad. Honestly, it’s very hard to tell. The proof is really in the reading and outcomes and developing a relationship with a few trusted advisors who have been able to connect with you and your energy and have proven that their insights and predictions have been accurate for you. But, just remember, if it sounds unbelievably good, it probably is not really true and the psychic is not real and only setting up a line to take your money and setting you up for emotional failure. So be careful of perfect feedback. It’s really not always an accurate gauge of the psychic advisors true abilities; except of course their ability to fleece you out of your dollars. Of course, really consistently bad feedback is a good indication that the advisor is probably just very bad and should think about going into another line of work.

Another point, you need to understand that even if you are speaking with a gifted, authentic psychic, you and that particular psychic may not connect that well. That is different from the psychic being fake. There a many reasons why a particular psychic may not connect with you. They may not be rested and ready to take calls, or you may not be relaxed and ready to receive truthful information or in some other way blocking the flow of what is being channeled thereby skewing the information on either side. Psychic readings are not an exact science. Intuition is relied upon to conduct an accurate psychic reading for a client. The reading goes much better when both the psychic advisor and client are relaxed and ready to receive. I personally find it difficult to connect with a client who wants to hear a certain thing. I have experienced many times my client trying to guide the reading. So see your authentic psychic advisor as someone who wants to help you and be ready to assist in the flow of information.

So in order to break away from this stigma, real psychics have a job to do in order to separate them from this unfortunate reality. The answer to this problem is, of course, awareness. If you are familiar with me and my concepts, then you may already be aware that I have been trying to help change some of the negative views that many people have about psychics and what they do. Since I have covered some of those aspects in other articles I want to focus more on what a psychic should be and what you can reasonably expect to learn from a psychic reading.

The most profound concept that came into my awareness at the beginning of this journey for me as a “psychic” advisor was the idea that we are all here to learn something; to grow and evolve towards perfection of the soul. When a real psychic is doing their job, they are assisting you in an awareness of certain aspects of your life when you seek out psychic advice. The reason psychic advice can be so powerful is because it can provide much needed insight into your life that you would otherwise not be aware of because you may be so embroiled in the day-to-day activities and events of your life that you shut out your own intuition and your own ability to access your Higher Self. Psychics are accessing unseen elements in nature; however within all of us exists a hidden, decipherable code that persons with highly developed psychic intuition and/or with the use of certain divination tools, can more readily access. These persons were either born with a natural gift and/or has developed it.

Once I found my true path, I decided to make it my mission to help those who seek it to find the power of their inner world and to access Higher Consciousness through spiritual practice. A psychic (a term which really is not to me accurately descriptive of what we do) is supposed to help you to help yourself. Not take the place of your own inner powers, insights or judgment by showing you that you can do this for yourself. A true intuitive psychic should be used for guidance and to give you probable outcomes based on the energy that you are channeling at the time of your reading. In my experience, I have talked with many clairvoyant psychics who are indeed able to “see” visions in the past, present or future. The same goes for someone who is empathic who can “feel” another’s emotions. Some psychics can do both, but some can do only one or two practice areas very well.

Different Psychics Have Different Methods

Whether your psychic is clairvoyant, clairaudient, empathic, telepathic, a medium, uses divination tools such as Tarot, Runes, I Ching, or even numerology and astrology, the extent to which they can tell you certain information will be based on their experience in their craft, their skill, knowledge and natural gifts. All these elements play a part in getting you accurate psychic information during your reading and you especially want someone who is knowledgeable if they are going to be able to help you based on channeling from a higher realm. Some psychics use tools, some do not. Depending on how a psychic worker discovered their gift and how they have practiced it, will determine their skill level. I recall seeing a program on television where this psychic actually read peoples’ butts (yes, their behinds). There were actually people showing her their butts and she would read them. Go figure. No one should ever judge what it is that connects a person with higher consciousness. For some it may be the Tarot for others could be butts, but spiritual gifts come in all shapes and sizes, no pun intended. It is mastery that should concern us. Psychic mastery is a discipline like anything else and anyone seeking psychic advice should want someone who has mastered their gift to a certain degree in order to help others with it.

Some Common Pitfalls to Watch Out For

I have found through many years of using psychics, clairvoyants, etc. that some can see certain types of things but may not be able to assist you at all with what it is that concerns you. For instance, you call someone who claims to be clairvoyant and you want to know whether or not you will have a reconciliation with your lover and she sees that you have a new puppy and that you’re wearing a yellow scarf and you are blown away by this information. Wow, incredible. That is a gift for sure–to be able to do that and see that without seeing or knowing the person. So many everyday people have psychic gifts but that does not necessarily make them capable of helping you with a serious situation in your life that requires specialized help or someone who is experienced and knowledgeable and skilled in their craft at getting you real psychic answers channeled from Higher Consciousness.

Now even though that particular clairvoyant was able to see what you were wearing and that you had a new puppy does not mean that they can see clearly and profoundly the answers you seek. Their ability may not be a match for your concerns. I have found that people who are amazed by just small, little things like that tend to believe everything that clairvoyant says when in reality their gift is a gift of seeing “You” physically and what is in your physical surroundings, which is an excellent talent called remote viewing BUT is not a skill match for your reconciliation question or your career question. It is worth developing as a methodology for certain types of readings. But the tendency to “believe” everything from that point on is very strong because to an inexperienced seeker of psychic advice, this is amazing enough to cause you to make the erroneous determination that this person can see “everything”. And that is not the case many times over. So all this is to say, ask the psychic you may be calling or contacting to spell out exactly what their expertise is and you make the determination that this psychic is the one for you.

If a psychic is empathic, they can “feel” another’s feelings/emotions. If a psychic is telepathic, they can know another’s thoughts. If a psychic is clairvoyant they can see the past, the present and the future through visions. If a psychic is clairaudient, they receive/hear information even sounds in their mind. If a psychic is clairsentient, they can actually capture information through physical sensations associated with you or a person you are asking about. Keep in mind that the skill level of each practitioner is going to vary and this is another bit of information you want to inquire about. How much experience do they have?

All these abilities alone if untrained or at the beginning stages may not be able to assist you but when combined with training, experience and knowledge, you can a have a most unique experience with an authentic intuitive advisor that can help you in powerful ways that will assist you in your personal empowerment, provide insightful answers to your questions and probable outcomes. Remember, outcomes are based on the current energy that surrounds you at the time of your reading and without a doubt can change. Many people are under the mistaken perception that if it’s meant to be, then there is nothing you can do to change a thing. There are indeed some things that occur in every life that are destined to be because of certain preordained events that must take place in the life for your soul’s growth or in many, many cases, due to karmic debts and the resulting correction of imbalances created by misuse of certain energies in previous lifetimes. Then there are other life experiences where free will is at play and it is your very decision or action that is the thing that is being tested. So a psychic reading is not meant to bypass experience because your soul will undergo what it must to complete its “stopover” on this plane of existence, but an expert psychic reading can help you to identify that which is eluding you or some point you seem to be missing and help point you in the right direction. Or, your psychic can identify a block or a karmic pattern that you are having trouble dealing with. Sometimes it’s not just what Mom and Dad did to us as children. Sometimes just to become self-aware is empowering in and of itself. To become aware of something significant through guided spiritual forces can have an overwhelming effect on a person. It could be that very moment which becomes a turning point in your life. The true psychic spiritual advisor has done their job well if they can help you in this way. But they are not a substitute for experience and a professional, ethical psychic would never try to make you dependent on them.

What a Psychic Should Not be Telling You

Also, conversely, we should take a look at, what a psychic should not be telling you. A psychic should not be telling you what decisions to make. Always take away from your reading empowering elements that help you to make your own decisions about your life. An ethical and responsible psychic should never predict death. They should not propose doing spells for you that will change the course of events or another person or to negatively affect another’s life supposedly for your benefit. Engaging in this type of activity will only bring about negative karma on you and this psychic, and the karmic consequences could be devastating. This is totally unethical. A psychic should never tell you that they can make something happen for you because that is patently false. No one else can “make” something happen for you because a psychic advisor does not have any special powers to control your fate or others behavior. There is a need in all of us to question things in our life; to wonder, to contemplate to verify, to know. Sometimes that need leads us to someone who can bring insight and clarity into a matter that may be troubling us based on Higher Guidance. Why is it that some can get the value of a spiritual consultation or psychic reading, while others become susceptible to fueling the human conditions such as emotional deprivation, depression, grief or perception of loss of any kind; and, instead of alleviating these things as a result of psychic advice regarding an issue in your life, the readings shift into filling an emptiness that becomes increasingly difficult to manage and triggers what is termed “psychic addiction” or “psychic dependency.”

I recall a reading I was giving on a psychic network on the web, where thousands of advisers were offering their services–although no special skills or knowledge is required to give advice there. Since I own and operate my own service outside of any network, I have been able to experience a sharp disparity in the seekers who call network psychics and seekers who call for a private consultation.

Most often, seekers of psychic advice who are calling psychics on a network will call hundreds of different psychics asking them the same questions. Even when advised not to do this, the temptation is too strong for them to resist. They call and call trying to determine if what one psychic said would be verified by another, then another and another. On and on until the querent (the seeker) begins to call psychics armed with information they “believe,” because they have been told, and which now takes on a new quality or dimension in a reading which actually begins to alter the baseline circumstances and causes a shift in what is picked up from psychic to psychic. In other words, somewhere the initial concern gets cluttered with unsubstantiated facts and predictions and consequently new feelings arise out of what they now believe and begin to feel they already know. A real psychic picks up thoughts, feelings, etc., but when a querent has new feelings and thoughts based on what they have been told my hundreds of psychics, this becomes a form of “transformed energy.” Many psychics find themselves struggling with what they “see” versus what the client is telling them. It takes a skilled spiritual adviser to get past these new beliefs and pre-conceived ideas and to get to the bottom of the matter, undiluted by junk (most likely idealistic and often fanciful information where things turn out precisely as the seeker wants them to). A common misconception is when a psychic picks up on another’s emotions and when favorable to the client, it is mistakenly turned into a favorable prediction of the future. Many times these predictions are not accurate although many psychics pick up similar details in the past and present; so you can imagine the kind of confusion that will develop over a period of time after consistently going from one psychic to another. This is not a place for someone who has dependency issues. Getting psychic readings can be just as addictive as anything that one can become dependent on– as addictive as drugs or alcohol. As studies have shown, the tendencies are usually already there genetically for drugs and alcohol as these addictions span familial generations. For people who have found themselves addicted to psychic readings, a similar process is going on. Of course, there have not been clinical studies verifying psychic addiction compared to drug or alcohol addiction, or psychological addiction; but rest assured the same impulses and tendencies are inherent in this behavior with just as serious consequences resulting from calling too many psychics too often. The seeker now is going to the psychic to get a temporary fix where the idealistic, unrealistic information given now is what the seeker is seeking rather than illumination. The seeker becomes addicted to the “good feeling” he receives after hearing that everything is going to work out exactly as he or she wants. This works for a while until the seeker comes to the full realization, that they have been a victim of deceptive practices or even as a result of well-intentioned psychic advisers who find themselves susceptible to these pitfalls. That’s when things get ugly and there are now thousands of bitter seekers who may finally reach a genuine psychic who can help them, but will never be able to recognize it because this is the point where a seeker calls and is “abrupt, impatient and ready to harass” an unsuspecting and real spiritual adviser.

I would like to point out my experience as an authentic psychic intuitive and the impression I am left with when I speak with seekers on a network as compared with those in a private consultation. Those who call me privately usually have done their research about psychics, most have often already been through the network psychics and have become totally disillusioned, yet their own intuition is telling them that something real is out there. They just have to try a little harder to find someone who is legitimate, someone whose ability is outweighed only by their integrity and deep commitment to truth.

Individuals who come to an authentic private psychic adviser are, for the most part, ready to hear the truth and they are relaxed and open and do not usually have barriers. If there are barriers, because the consultation is not interrupted when your money runs out, the private adviser is able to relax the client and prepare them for an authentic reading before they start. Unlike on networks the seeker wants to jump right into their reading without hesitation in varying states of mind, and often times is not ready for a real reading because they are on the clock and in a hurry. During a private consultation, seekers can get the answers they need, leave the reading feeling empowered and positive and will feel satisfied until their next reading. Psychic networks enable people who have psychic dependency. They do not help with their problem; they just make it worse by causing them to spend more money than they can afford exacerbating their problems as opposed to alleviating them.

I also found that many seekers on networks can be abrupt, impatient, totally unappreciative of the process of getting a real psychic reading and really do not know what a real psychic reading is suppose to offer or what they should reasonably expect. At this point they are frustrated because they have gotten too many readings and they don’t know what to believe and are somewhat angry and this puts up a barrier to tuning in properly and connecting with Higher Consciousness for the reader. A psychic cannot answer all of your questions. They do not know ALL. They can give you their “impressions” based on the questions-usually a piece of the puzzle. They can guide you to find your own answers, using your own intuition. But a psychic needs to start clean with a situation but when a client brings in so many varying factors (e.g., beliefs and ideas that they have received from other psychics), this presents a block. Some psychics will create a fantasy and the seeker then, in turn, feeds on the fantasy, which is totally unethical. A good psychic will help you to find your self, your center and give you exceptional insights, predictions and accurate information. But it is amazing how most network psychics for the most part cannot make accurate predictions. I have found that both the seeker and psychics feed off of each other, turning the experience to one that is far from real, spiritually connected knowledge. They are using each other. I have often times found it difficult to read seekers on networks and I’m sure the experience was mutually frustrating, and this is not what a reading is supposed to be.

For those who have found themselves feeling out of control because of their need to have constant readings, you will need to get this under control by seeking professional counseling as there are other underlying issues that need attention and the average run of the mill fake psychic working on a network will not be able to help you.
